August is Neurosurgery Awareness Month

Each August, the American Association of Neurosurgeons (AANS) observes Neurosurgery Awareness Month. This year, the AANS is focusing on stroke.

Strokes are the number one cause of disability in the US and third leading cause of death, according to the AANS. There are many ways to identify and help decrease the damage caused by stroke, including new apps developed by a range of medical experts, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the American Heart Association (AHA).
