New Strategy Finds Brain Tumor-Shrinking Molecules

The average life expectancy of a patient diagnosed with glioblastoma is less than 15 months and no effective treatments yet exist.

To fight glioblastomas, researchers in San Diego have been developing a new computational strategy that searches for molecules that can be made into drugs that may shrink the brain tumor. When used on mice, one molecule they located shrank the size of the tumor size by half.
