Researchers Uncover Historical Turning Point in Neurosurgery

For many years, researchers at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Arizona have been trying to discover a definitive turning point in the history and development of modern neurosurgery.

The scientists concluded that this turning point can be attributed to French surgeon Jean Massot. Massot employed techniques that foreshadowed modern neurosurgery to save the life of Russian general Mikhail Kutuzov in 1773 after he was shot through the temple.
